Know How To Win Prizes!

Dodd & Co are celebrating the success of their insolvency specialist, Jackie Parsons, in the recent Joint Insolvency Examination Board examinations in which she was awarded the Insolvency Practitioners' Association prize for first place along with the Institute of Chartered Accountants of England & Wales prize - which is awarded to the ICAEW member with the highest mark. Jackie was the only candidate from Cumbria to pass these very rigorous exams.

Jackie first joined Dodd & Co in 2001 after gaining a degree in mathematics at Newcastle University. She qualified as a chartered accountant in 2004 when she also topped the exam board results with a special prize in the professional stage of this examination which she took in 2002.

Jackie now splits her time between Carlisle and Penrith and advises many different types of businesses. She has been heavily involved in the firm's insolvency team (Dodd Rescue) for the last 18 months and has spent a lot of her leisure time studying hard for the prestigious insolvency board exams which she took in November 2009.

Senior Partner, Alan McViety commented, "There's a widely held misconception that only larger firms have the expertise to provide quality insolvency, rescue and recovery services. Jackie's success explodes that myth. This recognition in insolvency consolidates our unique position in the market as nationally recognised experts in a wide variety of business areas".

Insolvency principal, Jeanette Brown said "The team at Dodd Rescue are immensely proud of Jackie's achievements, and together we will continue to provide the highest level of quality advice and service to both the corporate and personal insolvency sector."

This announcement is largely in response to the growing trend of accountants advising their clients to leave profits in their company and then extract them at a 10% capital gains tax (CGT) rate on an informal winding up of their company.
